I found this leather wrapped booze bottle cannon at a yard sale. The bottle is green colored. It says MADE IN ITALY on it. The base that it sits on is wood. The cannon measures 12 1/2" long and has a brass piece wrapped around the middle of it. Any ideas how old or if it has any value?
Looks Sweet! I would defiantly put it on my Shelf!
Hello, I have similar wine bottles to this. All the information I have on my bottles are that it is possible they were made pre 1910. The leather and designs look similar to mine. Mine are from Italy. This is a very cool piece! hope this gives you somewhere to start!
I just posted my similar bottle...only difference is the color, and the base of mine is a music box. But Mathew, i dunno about your estimate of the time they were produced...the cap is threaded. That would indicate to me that its newer than 1910...
hope we can learn more about them soon though.
I was just give one that may be exactly like yours. It needs cleaned to see more details. It is still sealed, still has wine in it. Have you found any more history about it? The animal head 'cork' is very interesting to me. I am searching my Italian ancestry and want to know if there is any connection.
Also, there is a label on it that reads:
Red Wine
S. Gimignano
Product of Italy and Bottled by
Casa Vinicola
Bardi Ubaldo
Certaldo Italy
