Forgotten I'd bought this I suppose that's what lofts/attics are for. I also never found out its age or who it belonged to and of what nationality. I am sure someone will help me out here.

Hi Collectables. Looks like you have a post war British Mk IV helmet. (some commonwealth countries also used them) These were often nicknamed 'turtle' helmets because of the resemblance to a turtle's shell. They were in use from 1945 right up to the Falklands war so would be hard to date unless you can find a date stamped in on the inside somewhere.
Thank you elanski I've put it back in the loft now but I'll get it back out. Were they stamped in a particular place or could it be anywhere??
