Found two of these old metal cans. Wonder if they are beer cans or maybe oil cans? They are H = 4.5 inches. W = 3.5

I collect beer cans. I believe hat what you have is an old cone top beer can. The measurements match yours. Cone tops were introduced in 1935. Cone tops were designed in response to flat top beer cans as a hybrid between beer bottle and flat top can. I have quite a few in my collection - not to be confused with the crowntainer which is similar but without the upper seam.
