Collectabl…
(310 items)
Did you know that The Horse Brass society was formed in 1975 to cater for the people interested in horse decorations and still meets in Ipswich England.
These collectable items stem from Roman times where they decorated horse harnesses.
Following the demise and the use of heavy horses, thousands of horse brasses ended up decorating our pubs and hotels in every part of the UK. As over half of our pubs have now disappeared and brass is out of vogue, one day these gems may become valuable.
Appreciate the love thank you Thomas, fortapache, Jenni, yougottahavestuff and Watchsearcher.
Why are the pubs disappearing ? Should I cancel my cruise ship trip ?
For blunderbuss2: Unfortunately in 2019 14 pubs per week closed down due to crippling rents rates and the good old British public staying in. And now because of the virus many more will close. Sad times
Thank you vetraio50, blunderbuss2 and TexasJack for the loves.
Well, there goes "jolly ole England"! Will this affect Eng. humour ?
Never in a million
Thanks kwqd and ttomtucker for the loves.
When I saw these I thought that they were Watch Fobs, but way to big for that, about 3"x 3 1/2" is what I read about them, is that correct? Sometimes they are used for Door Knockers now! :^D Thanks for showing Collectables59! :^)
The size is right. Originally they were buckled on a leather strap for decoration and hung on the walls. I have never seen them as door knockers but not a bad idea.
Cheers keramikos and AnythingObscure for the loves.
