Went to an antique mall I heard was open and made a road trip out of it.
Starting off is a Polly Gas sign in Helendale along Route 66. I think the building behind it is downtown Helendale. There are a few other buildings here and there along with the Bottle Tree Ranch.
Next is Oro Grande along Route 66. I believe that is a cement plant behind the train. In fact that is the Oro Grande Cement Plant. Route 66 follows that railway line pretty much which was originally built by AT&SF.
In photo number 3 I went over to Apple Valley to see what was left of the concrete dinosaurs which is not much. They are concrete of plaster with chicken wire.
Last is the Ace Motel sign in Lucerne Valley. It's the middle of no where kind of. But it is only about a 45 minute drive to Victorville all the major chain stores one may need.
I think next time I may head out further perhaps to Zzyzzz.
Sounds like a cool road trip, great landmarks I love that Polly Gas sign
I could use some Ethyl ....cool old sign,....Ace motel looks full ...lol And time marches on ...sometime not for the better...cool post.
Thank you very much Newfld. Yes great sign.
Thank you very much poticheman. Don't see Ethyl around much.
Thank you very much Ms.CrystalShip. I think I can get to San Luis Obispo from here in the San Berdu Mountains for about $40. Not bad for AWD SUV. It takes 2 gallons to back up the hill though. It is a brutal hill.
