OH, DEAR...
...it was barely a couple weeks ago when Bear lived out his final days on my back patio instead of behind the cleanout house...
https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/281624-bear-redux-w-junior-too
...and NOW look who showed up to take his place as of yesterday afternoon, in a most brief and slightly confusing (to me anyway) encounter with my partner's son (also Bear's former real owner) when he accidentally pulled into my driveway right behind me just as I was arriving home from work myself, unloading both Junior (see above post too) and THIS little girl on a leash, asking "Did you talk to Pops this afternoon"...??? My answer was "...uhhh...no, I haven't...why...???"
And less than 15mins later my backyard had/has a fresh new "occupant"...hooked up for now to Bear's cable thingie for the moment which I hadn't yet retrieved from the yard...?? <shock><rub eyes><shake head><wow>
ANYWAYS, everybody. Please meet OREO (name picked by Junior) who is pictured here earlier this evening after her 2nd official 'walk around the block' with me. I dunno her breed (if there is one, or two or ??) or even actual age, but she's otherwise a terribly sweet young female pup full of springs and rubberbands (just like Missy down the street) who seems to be ever so comfortable (pic 4) both with now living out there, and accompanying me on my (mostly) daily 'health walks' around the block. Gads...if she ends up really "living" here the little girl is likely to hold me more to that schedule now than ever before, even if I otherwise spent the day on ladders/platforms/etc doing my real job... <groan><sigh>
Still -- it's also been surprisingly fun to have her with me these last couple days on those walks. She's also a polite little girl it seems, totally curious about everything but also getting along instantly with neighborhood kids and even other dogs. (I think, most of which are usually behind fences/etc except for Missy who was running free last nite, (she's been shown here too) they even seemed to get along at their first brief meeting??
OH GOOD LAWWDY...WHAT HAVE I DONE to myself now...I don't need yet another 'expensive hobby'...??? <LOL>
Oreo is adorable & hope she brings you much happiness :)
Too late AO! You are enamoured and in deep.
How could you not love her. Look at the tongue slip!
Gorgeous dog! Pitbull/lab? She will turn into a fantastic dog- much potential!
I love black and white spotted dogs....she’s a beauty!! Lucky you!
SO MANY GRACIOUS THANKS to Newfld, racer4four, keramikos, EZa, & Watchsearcher for your lovely comments -- also to cokeman1959, fortapache, glassiegirl, Newfld, aura, racer4four, yougottahavestuff, Brunswick, keramikos, kwqd, Vynil33rpm, Watchsearcher, & vetraio50 for stopping by with your <love it> button taps!!
Turns out Oreo is only roughly 4 months old. (!!) She's otherwise been proving to be a most polite 'backyard guest' anyway, (read: not otherwise noisy at all the wrong times, etc) and has been enjoying lots of attention from myself and others, only occasionally getting herself all wrapped up in the patio furniture legs on the otherwise ~20' of extra (lightweight) cable that I added to Bear's original for her.
She's also been a most delightful companion (and 'neighbor magnet?!') on her continued daily walks around the block with me (#5 shortly, if we can dodge the showers) and has even had a couple extra walks from her actual "owner" in the meanwhile. (that part is getting more complicated actually, but whatever...)
I still don't know if she'll ultimately be a 'temporary resident' here or not...but racer4four you're certainly correct too...I still also don't quite think I'm ready to be an actual 'dog owner' myself, but she sure is fun to have around in the meantime, no matter how long that turns out to be... ;-) ;-) :-) :-) :-)
keramikos, correct on both counts. For the moment that's why I haven't just let her loose in the backyard...she'd certainly be able to jump over the carport gate if she wanted to, that's the 'weak link' in my backyard fence for such things. [and the xtra cable now lets her get to the top of the steps there anyway, so's I can rub on her coming and going without going down there myself]
She has reportedly had all her "shots" but indeed hasn't been spayed yet...I am most aware of the importance of having that done ASAP...simply a matter of trying to figure out how *not* to have to pay for it myself... <groan>
adorable dog.
