Spiked War Hammer, Mike Mitchell, 2020

Here's our latest acquisition by Mike Mitchell. It's a giclee print on cotton rag paper, 8 by 8 inches, and the title is Spiked War Hammer, from Mitchell's Food Dudes series, of which there are about 30. He's been doing them since 2014, in editions of 200-300, plus APs. My wife and I mostly have prints from the numbered series, but we may have three or so APs (no difference in quality or appearance as they are all printed at the same time). Our collection has around a dozen of these happy little guys, each of which is running, smiling, and holding a Games of Thrones-worthy weapon of death and destruction.

One of the things I like best about the Food Dudes is the way Mitchell titles them. For example, as mentioned, this Box of Popcorn, which would have been a perfectly fine title, is called Spiked War Hammer. A running, smiling avocado is titled Throwing Axe, a running, smiling can of Campbell's tomato soup is called Two-Handed Mace, and a running, smiling cupcake with pink frosting and a single burning birthday candle on top is called Spiked Club. You get the idea.
