We have arrived at the present day and a unified Germany.
After the Berlin wall fell in 1989 it was only a matter of time before debt burdened east was formally reunited with the west to make a new unified Germany. The official unification took place in October 1990.
The west German army took control of the east's forces and although many units were disbanded the new army still totaled over 360,000 men.
This beret is typical of those worn by para regiments in many countries. .Made of wool and are lined with an adjustable, leather sweatband. On the front is the Fallschirmjäger badge indicating the parachute regiment.

and until I find something else in the category to buy this is the end of this little series.

A fine series. Feel free to continue when you find more head gear.

I think it was in Edmonton back about 1980 that they were doing exercises and the airport was full of Krauts in uniform. They hadn't changed them much since the bad days. Gave me a weird feeling being surrounded by them.
