No markings on the anvil. Forged from 5 pieces, no pritchel hole. Not entirely sure who made it or when, but thought to be German. Was bought in east Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall. History prior to that unknown.

Thanks! It weighs about 345 lbs. I'll get a picture of the back when I can. It's smooth with no marks though. I read in that link about the development of the church window anvil, and the double horn church window, but no mention of a single horn church window. Does it seem likely that it was developed around the same time as the double horn church window design?
Any idea when German anvils started getting a pritchel hole? I know in England they started around 1830.

It has a drop down list of other Anvils, and at least one single horn church window is there. If you contacted them they may give you the information that you want! Most people don't know that "real" anvils are wrought iron and not cast iron, so they are really tough. A S. Afrikan friend told me about coming home to their farm and found that their "local" hands had broken the horn off of his big anvil. Said none of them wanted to admit to it. He told them he wasn't mad at them, but he just wanted to know, HOW ? LOL !
