This is what it might be Lisa, an antique Japanese Cloisonne Chrysanthemum Vase, it could be a copy or Honor piece, that's not as old, but still well made. It's 7 1/4" tall, 2 3/4"across the top, 5" at the widest, and 3" across the bottom, and unmarked! I'll put a link in comments, to a similar one, but there's a few of them like it too, dates and makers differ, and I don't know Cloisonne well enough to tell!
Thank you Lisa for asking for a closer look! :^D

Thank you for looking all comments are welcome! Please Stay Safe, and Keep others Safe too, simple Wear A Mask! :^)

Very nice find. Appears to be wireless Japanese clooisonne. See: https://www.bing.com/search?q=%2bwireless+japanese+cloiosonne&filters=rcrse%3a%221%22&FORM=RCRE

I can tell the difference, this is a vintage piece, Ando produced and exported to USA right up to 1980s. The tell tale sign is the kind of metal used for the rims and bases.

By post 1950s you could find similar cloisonne vases with nickel rims. This is one of those. The chrysanthemum is the honored flower to celebrate the Fall season in Japan, this is also done in China.

Thank you Bill, love the close-ups. The wireless cloisonne enamel applications was a secret, today there are several potential explanations, but there is no consensus.

Thank you Lisa, this vase that I found is so much like mine, except it's smaller, only 4", and mine is just over 7":

      https://lrantiques.com/products-page/jp/enamel-cloisonne-vase-with-chrysanthemums-japan-c-1912-26/

But this one they're saying c 1912-26, and I guess without seeing them together, and knowing, I can't tell the difference! Is there a difference, or . . . ? :^D

      Hi Bill,
I have my doubts about the whole listing being accurate, your vase is bigger nicer and about the same time period, 1970-80.
The wire is silver threads for the motif, which turn sort of a yellow with slight tarnish.

The listing of the small vase says 4 inches with a weight of 2 pounds, unless it is a heavy metal, that is not possible. Either bigger or lighter.

The vase you linked seems to be in worse condition, dent in upper rim, and some roughness or oxidation. Also the shape proportions altered over the 20th, this chunkier style is post 1950, like yours.

Maybe I should do a post to show the difference, as I have a lot of images still from the collection of cloisonne I had. Youre welcome Bill, this is the best part, the sharing.

see this one, 6 inches, slender, 1 pound, and dating is accurate.

Yeah Lisa, I see that all the time. Too often someone posts an item for sale, and puts the wrong information, another sees it, and posts for their item the same information, it perpetuates from there next thing Wikipedia has it listed that way, and history is recreated! :^O That's why I like CW, I think we try to search for the truth or dare to be proven wrong! :^D Thank You!
Yes, those 2 vases, from the same site, are different from each other, yet listed with the same information, So was the vase with the correct information, just a lucky guess, and the wrong one, claiming to be the same? :^l Just sayin! :^D

renedijkstra, thank you for your comment, we need all the information that we can get! :^D
