With great help from Deb Fitzsimmons this vase could be identified. Three years ago Warren Gallé had already found out that this Loetz decor is noted as "pensée Markasit" in paper patterns (https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/238899-loetz-pensee-markasit-vase-st-pn-ii-2).

Until now it was not clear whether there was also a Genre number for this version of Markasit. There are at least 32 patterns that refer to pensée Markasit in 1908. 13 patters refer to other color versions: kaiserrot / camelienrot / orangeopal / blattgrün / braun / heliotrop / russischgrün.

Also, with Deb's help we can now assign an execution number (German “Ausführung”) to "pensée Markasit" with high probability. The execution numbers are often not found on the paper patterns but in the invoice books, while the paper patterns only contain the descriptive decoration designation. This applies to many execution versions, including Ausführung 121. The paper pattern for this vase indicates the connection of "pensée Markasit" with "Ausführung 121", which is confirmed on other patterns with this decor. It is also great that the reference to the "Decor 31" is on the paper pattern. Many glasses with the pensée Markasit decor have an additional enamel decoration like this one. Also Warren's second piece posted here shows the same enamel decor. https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/261282-loetz-pensee-markasit-bowl-pn-unknown.

The pattern for II-5687 describes Ausführung 121 as "pensée Zapfen in stahlgrauen Krösel getunkt. optisch. mit Golddekoren. 7./7. 1908" (pensée cones dipped in steel grey crumbs. optical [blown]. with gold decorations).

Several vases in pensée Markasit with metal mounts of brass or bronce are known, including two examples with shapes made for van Hauten Sohn. Lötz supplied at least 15 models in pensée Markasit prepared for mountings to the van Hauten Sohn company (PNs II-5806-5817). Van Hauten is well known for its mounts made of pewter. But there are also other examples of brass and bronze mounts.

Thanks Alan and Brian. I would say that Deb and Warren are the true experts, I consider myself lucky to be able to contribute to unraveling the origin of various glasses from time to time.
