Found these recently at an estate sale. 2 antique sewing kits inside of wood eggs. Eggs screw together with carved threads. Inside one half is a dowel that holds a wood double spool. Additionally the dowel end comes off to expose a compartment to store needles. All the stuff at the sale was very old. Im guessing these eggs are 1890s to 1910? Can only find 1 similar picture, that one has a plastic dowel and no information. If someone has a idea of the exact age, please let me know. These stay in my personal collection.
These are wonderful, and the eggs are shaped to be darning lasts.
