    Early 1970s Dog License Tags

I forgot I had these hanging in the garage. They are early 1970s dog license tags from the family dog. I was born in 1970 so I have no idea or recollection of which dog this was. Will ask my sister and see if she remembers as she is older than me.

Judging from the span of years, this particular family dog might have been gone before you were old enough to remember.

If so, you weren't as lucky as I was.

My family acquired a dog when I was about one year old. We got him from the previous owner who didn't want him any more.

We knew exactly how old he was, because he had pedigree papers, and he was exactly two weeks my elder.

I couldn't have had a better big brother: seventy pounds of rippling muscle, fearless, smart, loving, patient, and devoted to his human family to the last drop of blood.

I'm told that I used to use him as a footstool to get on and off of the living room couch when I was a toddler. He never complained, probably because a) he was big, and it didn't really hurt him b) he knew I was just the family two-legged puppy.

He was a big part of my life until he crossed the rainbow bridge when we were both twelve.

You definitely should ask your sister. She might not only remember the dog's name, but be able to point it out in family pictures.
