I am just trying to date this cabiney card. I found it odd this individual had so many knives and guns in his photo. Makes me wonder what he did and if this was normal at this time for men to do. I noticed it looks like an 1873 Winchester rifle but I am not sure. Thanks

Cabinet card from about 1880s- 90s.

Great subject matter-- ready for a fight!

I'll check and see if I can pinpoint further based on the photographer.

Did some further research and came up dry on the photographer.

Well I really appreciate your help. I have owned this picture for 20 years and just never knew much about it. The weapons I feel say alot about the individual but just not sure what yet:)

The man in the photograph bears a strong resemblance to the outlaw, Butch Cassidy....

Judging by the size of the cartridges and lifter in rifle, I'm guessing "76 Winchester in, maybe, .45-75.

He does look like a younger version of butch cassidy for sure. The timeline could put him in his 20's. Yes winchester rifle along with what looks to be a kitchen knife lol and a colt with a special looking trigger guard. Thanks for all your guys:)

I noticed the photo is from around colorado which is where he did hide out. Who knows though. See "rocky mountain views"

Albertson, the weapons do say a lot about him. "Don't fk with me !" Short, but I think everybody gets the message.

"The man in the photograph bears a strong resemblance to the outlaw, Butch Cassidy...."

Up front, I don't see it-- other than both had a mustache.

      Looks like seldom is.

Cold identification rarely is accurate. If there was documentation in the form of an inscription or provenance, it would be worth investigating.

Here are some additional thoughts on random photo identification:

@scottvez - same jawline, similar head shape and nose. Ears are different, however, both ears look to be tucked in close to the skull at the lobes in most Cassidy photos, which is a spoiler. @Albertson1 - Still, I wouldn't accept any offers for your photo until you have it looked at by someone, or better yet, there are computer programs which will do that comparison for you. I have not looked at software like that for several years, so can't recommend any specific software, but a bit of research should give you some options, if you really want to pursue it.

This guy (in CO photo) has thinner lips, substantially thicker neck, different nose and ears.

      I don't see much resemblance.

Lots of looks likes available at any time-- hard part is turning a looks like into an "IS".

I doubt the guns and knives are the property of the man. Many photographers had a stock of props and weapons to beef up the photos. The bare blade butcher knife stuck in the front his belt wouldn't have happened in real life.

His left arm is wired on near the elbow. Look at his left shoulder too, it looks like he is wearing a prosthetic arm, to me.

That is a sleeve garter. Used to shorten sleeves to fit better. Popular in the late 19th century.

Glad you covered that, Scott. I was trying to remember what those sleeve garters were called.
