The other day I posted my other three New Haven advertising watches made for different shoe companies in the 1920s. This one is for another--Buster Brown Shoes. It is also made by New Haven in the style of their Tip Top watch. This one has the added bonus of the box and paper work. The watch doesn’t have any graphics, just “Buster Brown Shoes”, but the box does, with pictures of Buster Brown and his dog. The back of the box has text relating to using the watch. It also has a sheet of paper showing how to adjust the band, and the metal band corresponds to the sheet of paper and looks original The watch and box are in great condition. Also, my understanding is that the very first character watch was a Buster Brown pocket watch, made in 1908. This watch is from the late 1920s. In addition, it is not listed in any of my reference books and I can’t find another in researching online, so a bit of a mystery. Must be very, very rare…
Cool. I'm inspired to show my shoe advertisement button tool. Posting now..
