This is the medium size of the Big Bang family of cannon. It is 17" from end to end. It is based on 105mm howitzer more or less. You see the 9" cannon around a lot but this one not so much. This is the "military" style with rubber wheels. There is another series based on muzzle loaders with steel wheels although they are actually breech loaders like this one.
The igniter is missing on this one. That is the open spot in the back. Luckily I can get a replacement for $15. The o0ther piece is we=here the Bangsite powder goes. Bangsite makes it go bang. In figure 4 Bangsite goes in the top hole and then the the charger is pressed until there is way too much Bangsite and flames shoot out when fired. That isn't supposed to happen but it does.
Not scaled for GI Joe sized figures but many Joes had them in their armory.

I could swear I saw something very much like this on PAWN STARS the other night -- think they attributed that one to some 'legit' usage using carbide for the firepower to produce a BANG but not actually shoot a projectile...??

had one of these when I was a kid.
I don't know if they were made anywhere else, but they were made in Allentown, PA when I was young. My dad purchased my Big Bang Cannon at the company store in Allentown.
I wish that I still had mine.... Time and hindsight wait for no man....
