Another Route 66 find, I was told it was from a 1920s Studebaker and I it seems that is possible as they were using wheels like this then. I have always found this type of wheel interesting as they combine the old wagon style wheel with automobiles. It is typical of wheels of the time with a rather narrow tire. In photo #3 I turned it around. I do believe that is a view of the brake, or part of it. They weren't doing the hand operated brake as seen on my Matchbox of Yesteryear anymore. All the controls are inside the cab.
The tire is made by Goodyear. It is in rough shape but not all that bad. Still lots of tread left and it hasn't started to fall apart. Does seem to be misshapen from being parked for a few years underinflated. But the tire looks much newer than the wheel.
No plans to restore a Studebaker so this is going to be a piece of yard art. Actually at the end of my driveway art. I need to dress up the new shed a bit.

Take care of those wagon wheels. They are getting scarce.
