Designed and mfg. by the A.R. Robertson Co. in Boston Mass. These hammers came in one, two, three, and sometimes four sections. They were used to keep the posted messages high enough to discourage opponents from ripping them down. The clip on the handle, are to hold the poster while mounting it in place using a tack. Another tack is then placed on the magnetic head and used to help secure the poster. Sometimes these hammers were called advertising hammers. Arthur Robertson's bill posting hammer was patented on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1902
