Finally arrived, this stunning Loetz PN I-7467 vase in blau Capri. It stands 11.75" tall x 3.75" dia and was produced in 1898 for an unknown retailer. The silver is stamped sterling and a quintessential art nouveau design by La Pierre of New York.
The line drawing in the Ricke reference book is accompanied by a description naming the decor Capri. This decor appears to occur in several colors and, following hints by Warren, seems to be the application of wispy metallic vapors that swoosh across the base glass. Not knowing the origin of the name, I posit that it represents to seas of Capri Island and it's refreshing winds.
This is a wonderful piece. Congratulations.
Thanks Ales!
Gorgeous!...
I love the blue with such a beautiful silver overlay; I agree, Capri makes me think of the Greek isle and the Mediterranean Sea, too.
Thanks inky, thanks Michelleb007! Glad you both enjoyed it.
Stunning is correct to say the least! Wow!
