had this for 10 years unknowing what it was used for. I was watching the "American Pickers" on TV, and one of the pickers (Frank), saw one on a shelf. He said, "I haven't seen one of these in years" and then told the audience that it used to iron or press the starched collar that men wore at the turn of the 20th Century.
I told my wife (who was watching the show with me), I have one of those and now I know what it is used for after 10 years.

I’ve learned a lot from the program...one of my favorites....I’m glad styles changed and you are not having your wife prepare your collars with the thing! For one thing, she would balk at being expected to use it....not to mention your poor neck!

Cool find!! A good wife would prepare your shirt collars for you, a great wife would let you take your shirt off first!!
