I post these kit cars from time to time but they are already built. This one I took a few photos of before it was put together. They are fairly simple but there was a part or two on the underside I couldn't quite fit. I think it was just one tiny part. This kit has the steam locomotive cover so I think it is from the 1960s. I think perhaps the parts don't fit as well as the kit ages. It looks bright and shiny but plastic does change over time. As it is a bit bright and shiny it needs some weathering. Just a bit of highly diluted paint will do and some dry brushing along the edges.
Please note should one use this car for a model train layout one would need several of these with identical Peavy Co cars. These cars would be owned by the company and not the railroad. Boxcars are owned by the railroads but hoppers, gondolas and oil tankers were owned by the companies that made the product.
    Coming next! Something else.

Would the real cars be this color? It's a very Vivid blue color.

That's interesting information, fortapache, I never knew that about certain cars being owned by the company, but it makes sense.

By the way, do you know anything about the Thomas the Tank Engine series? My son and I used to buy all the different pieces and set them up and play with them when he was a little boy. The Ringo Starr narration was so delightful.

Thank you very much dav2no1. It needs weathering which means a wash with diluted white paint. That should make it look faded.

Thank you very much katherines. Sadly I know little about Thomas although he visits the local railway museum every year. Other than he is a tank engine which means he would be working at a factory or other short line and not on the mainline roads.
