In 1970 three of the greatest cars of all time were introduced . The Ford Pinto, the Chevrolet Vega and the AMC Gremlin. These were subcompact cars to compete with the VW Beetle and the Japanese cars.
The Gremlin is easily identified by the hatchback rear with the spoiler on top. At least it wasn't the Pacer.
The model has an opening hood to reveal what looks like a V8. Looks normal enough.
Got some exciting posts coming up. Been cruising the antique malls in Phoenix. Next on to route 66.
Haha....awesome!
Ha! The 1970s econobox built on a shortened Hornet platform. I had one for a short time....a very short time.... :)

My cousin had a gremlin, some ugly shade of green as I remember. First car I attempted to drive was a manual transmission pinto. My first car was a '62 Mercury meteor, 289 v8, three on the tree with overdrive.
