    This strange lumpy rock measures 3.25” X 2” X 0.5”.
It has a grainy texture all over and at certain angles, there are sparkles, strangely, in the raised central area that looks like an eye.
The area around the “eye” that looks like the rim of an eyelid has innumerable fine parallel lines close together which give it a tooled appearance

The side with the eye-like configuration is convex.
    The other side is concave.

I found this on the ground at a picnic area in a N Georgia state park, about a mile or 2 from an old marble mine. The marble mine is the end-point of an easy hiking trail. I’ve wondered if this rock was found at the mine by someone who then lost it at the picnic area.

I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Did a dinosaur leave its mark ?

      Golgatha, I wouldn’t rule anything out! :-)
I’d be quite happy with a piece of something left behind by a dinosaur.

I’ve thought it looks a lot like coral polyps....I live a long way from an ocean but I know this part of Earth was covered by water long ago.

That’s so interesting! It must have been exciting and awe inspiring to find those things. That’s perfect that you gave them to the next residents so they could also enjoy and wonder about what the planet was like so long ago.

Watchsearcher, Every time I see that first picture, it makes me think of a not very well-shaped, but nonetheless delicious home-made cookie.

Keramikos, now that you mention it, I can see the cookie. ;^)
Lumpy and crunchy/crusty on the outside but a bit soft/chewy inside….still warm, right out of the oven. Walnuts, choc chips, oats, coconut….my personal favorite to make. What’s your favorite?

Everyone, I see my old rock or whatever it is has racked up 14 loves! That’s exciting to know someone else appreciates it besides me.
      Thanks to you all!

Watchsearcher, It'd be a difficult choice.

It might have to be my mother's date cookies. This could be it; the era is right:

That recipe sounds good to me…I might try it in a week or so. Thanks!
