Extraordinary life-saving-passport used by a Jewish doctor from Sofia, Baruch Konfino, who spent the first 2 years of the war rescuing 2,682 refugees from various countries and have them smuggled safely to British Palestine in 4 boats and 7 trips. One of the boats capsized and resulted in the death of 338 passenger, this disaster put an end to his rescue war-time efforts. He continued to assist the immigration of Jews out of Bulgaria following the coup of September 9th 1944 and up to his arrival in Israel 5 years later as an immigrant himself. Passport is extensively used with added folding pages.
The sailboat ``Salvador`` sunk December 1940.
Dr B.Confino died 1982 at the age of 91.
