This is a Monogram B-26 Invader model kit from 1955, the first issue of a Monogram All Plastic aircraft model. The kit # is P-6, the "98" after it was the price. The. "P" series kits were the first all plastic Monogram kits. The P designation would be changed to the more familar PA(aircraft), PB(boats), PC(cars), PD(missles).
This the first issue('55) of a Monogram all plastic aircraft, they'd released only cars and boats before. If you built a Monogram plastic aircraft, this is the granddaddy of them. Monogram had made balsa kits with plastic detail parts since after the war, but these were the first all plastic kits. Oddly this kit, the #P-7 B-25, and the #P-8 PBY have rubber wheels. They changed to plastic shortly with the PA-6,7,8. Note the catalog only had 8 plastic kits. Note also the Caddilac kits(highly prized) were a whopping $2.95 in 1955! That was still big bucks for me in the mid '60s for a model.
    Thanks,
    Bill

The plane that caused much confusion as there were 2 B-26s. I lost track of when they changed this to the A26. This plane was super high tech for the time and a cool model.

Thanks Apache, yes there was confusion because of the existing Martin B-26 Marauder. The "A" was new nomenclature for (ground)Attack aircraft. Very subtley advanced, more compact than previous comparable aircraft but with efficient use of space that future aircraft would follow. "Modular" interchangeable noses and some versions of the B-26 had over 20 .50 cals for strafing! Used in Korea, early Vietnam, and the Bay of Pigs.
