I purchased these incredible vases at our community yard sale for $5.00 for the pair. They are substantial in size, measuring 15" high and 9" at widest. I have searched the patterns under a loop and have not detected any pixilation. I thought that this was blue and white transferware. Shouldn't I be able to detect dot matrix if this is transferware? There were no other patterns that I could find in this Greek Revival design. It displays an interesting early obscure restoration attempt, (last photo). I would love to restore them but am unsure if it would be worth the investment.
Between 1878 and 1882, Henry and James Doulton acquired a major interest in the Pinder Bourne factory in Nile Street, Burlsem and changed the name to Doulton & Company, Burlsem. This example would date pre Doulton, and prior to Kinder Bourne initiating date marks. Included above and below Pinder Bourne's Hallmark, are the letters L M. I am wondering if this may be the artist's initials. I would appreciate any information that someone may share about the identy of LM, the design, or approximate date of creation. I thank you in advance; Greg
These are really cool! I would have snatched them for that price too!
