Hello, I am struggling to find info on these paintings i found. I have more than a dozen of them, so not all can be pictured. This artist also recorded music, from the work I gather the name is Solon Papastefan. I have tried searching every way possible and have come up empty.. This artist may have been just practicing and never "famous" but with the amount of their work i have i figured it may be worth looking into. There are sketches, paintings, CD's all from this person.. I wish I could add more pictures.. any help is greatly appreciated..
Interesting stuff...hope you learn some info. I didnt see anything..where did you get them?
I acquired them with the building/store i purchased. The original owner bought and cleaned out estates around the Chicago area. I am hoping I can get some info as well. They are all nicely done.
It looks like there were multiple men, at least three, by this name, all in an around Chicago from the 1950s until around February 2020. Guessing they were related. There are folks named Papastefan still living in Chicago, so I would recommend finding contact information for them and calling them or sending them a letter or email. I easily found land line phone numbers for folks with that surname. My hobby for 20+ years was writing biographies for unknown artists like this and putting them on my art collection web site.
A mass was recently said for a Solon Papastefan according to the church newsletter below. You might try calling the church, explain what you are doing and give them your contact information to pass on, if they are in touch with the family:

My guess is that your artist was either a commercial artist who dabbled in fine art, or a talented amateur artist. These are the most common scenarios I have found for artists like this.
Looks like of the SP's was a singer and musician and trademarked his first name for his business.....
