A recent Loetz addition is one of my newest favorites, a Loetz ‘Vulkan’ vase, in quite a good size, measuring 6-1/2” (16.5cm) in diameter by 5” (12.7cm) tall. This vase came to me from The Netherlands, and has a beautiful soft iridescence. The Vulkan décor is described on Loetz.com as having a ‘greenish ground with spreading brown-violet inner casing’ and dates to 1902. It was made exclusively for E. Bakalowits Söhne, a retailer located in Vienna, Austria. I believe I have found the paper pattern for this vase, PN 85/4006. The bottom of the vase appears to be clear to me rather than greenish, but I am sure this varies from vase to vase depending on the glass thickness.
An amazing piece. Congratulations.
Great piece, Michelle- it's interesting to me that Arno Richter seemed to favor this decor.
Oh!..I do love this, well done Michelle...on my wish list!
so delicate
Thanks so much Ales, I am glad you like it!
Thank you Warren! I didn't realize that he designed so few vases; I think you once said only 14? I love your Vulkan example that is covered in prunts.
Thanks so much Penny! :)
