This was a reasonably priced buy it now on eBay AU. It just looked like a really good quality piece of art glass to me, simple yet classy, so I had to get it.
Was even more impressed when it arrived, as the iridescence is superb & it also glows bright green under UV light indicating a uranium content.
Now I just need to find out who made it!
The vase is made from a a single layer of green glass with a strongly iridescent satin finish. It measures around 17.3 cm tall, 10 cm across the wide, flared top rim, & 5.5 cm across the base, which has a neatly polished out pontil mark.
The shape is a classic "trumpet" with a wavy, crimped rim, similar to many vases seen in Tango colours. Where the top rim flares out to reveal the interior of the vase, the glass is notably glossy in contrast to the satin iridescent interior.
So, is it Kralik, Welz, Loetz, or someone else?
You do find some very good glass on the 'bay. Either you spend lots of time or have excellent search parameters.
This is gorgeous.
Thanks so much, Karen...& I do plead guilty to both charges, :-).
My relentlessness is notorious...
...quilty here too.... good hunting and great find as usual : )
Many thanks, philmac51!
