I really enjoy Riedel vases in this geometric style, but have never seen a one in this color combination before; it consists of an opaque inner white glass that is cased in a beautiful crystal clear pink. The effect the two kinds of glass make together is lovely, as is the bold Secessionist style enamel work. On one side is a faintly written word in gilt; does anyone know what it says? I am assuming it is German? The vase measures just under 6"(15.2cm) tall x about 2-1/4"(5.7cm) square.
Looks like Iglófüred. Quick googling kept referencing Slovakia?????
I love these Riedel secessionist-enamelled vases too.

Hi Wow22, thanks so much! I had a hard time figuring out some of the letters. Interesting that they put 'Slovakia' on the vase; I thought perhaps it was a town's name, which you sometimes see on vases sold to tourists. Thanks again for your help!
I think it IS a town's name. The language is Hungarian I believe. See the last link I provided above.
Oh, I am sorry; I misunderstood! Yes, a town. "Iglófüred is now located in Slovakia, in Slovak Spišská Nová Ves, colloquially often Iglov." Thanks so much!
:) So - likely a tourist vase after all.
It's very pretty and the colour very subtle compared with the usual bold greens and reds.
Yes, I agree! I have two or three in red, and the softer colors aren't seen very often. I am glad you like it. Thanks for your help with the translation!
So elegant! They sure made a better class of souvenir in those days...
Love this Michelle!..
Iglóv is the town. Füred is the Hungarian word for bath.
Igló (currently belongs to Slovakia under name Spišská Nová Ves, German name: Zipser Neudorf
Sorry Michelle, that should read Igló.
Bad Zipser Neudorf is the Germanform for the spa, I think.
I love this style of decoration anyway, but here it's so in tune with the shape it's gorgeous.
Thank you Marin - I was thinking the same thing! :)
Thanks so much Penny!
That's great information Kevin; thank you! I always appreciate your input. A woman on one of the fb glass groups said Igló was an old resort spa town, so that makes sense.
Thank you Peggy; love this style, too and think it is nicer here than on the red examples I have.
Adore this seccionist style, very interesting post and discussion
Thanks so much kivatinitz; I am glad you like it! :)
LOVE the Art Deco, regardless of the name~
Not to be confused with modern perception of tourism with 5000 Chinese on a cruiser.
Beginning 20th century when this vase was made, visiting the spa and buying the vase was reserved for very few privileged and rich.
Thank you, Judy! :)
IVAN49, I agree that this was probably an expensive piece when it was made. Thanks!
