I'm pretty sure that this is 19th century Japanese. It has decades of old incense built up in it. The foo dog cover is really cool and beautifully done.

I also collect Chinese/Japanese/Asian porcelain,Bronze etc........I'm not a expert but it looks like a Japanese incense burner.......That's great!...I'm a Thrifter and I have found a few things over the past 2 yrs,....but now alot of Asian things don't even make it to the shelves because Thrift stores educate their staff...so great things don't get discovered by the public

rather well koro , i think late 19 century meiji, a sort of unfolding blossom type, but it is rope decor top and a labyrinthpattern on the belly, dark patinated ( less likely in taisho this way) rather well and delicate komainu, cant be far off to date this around 1890
not top notch , but really quite well

I never see anything like this in thrift shops in the Midwest. I live in a town with two universities and a four year college, so there is some travel in and out of the community and occasionally I find some neat things in estate liquidations. There is a major public ivy university about an hour away in a town that has quite a few thrift shops so there is some hope of finding things like this there, but I am not going to any thrift shops for the forseeable future. I have found a few cool international items since I retired and before Covid in these thrift shops...
