Red Crown Parakeet by Randall Wood
Circa: 2005
Approximately 7" x 5"
With framing 11 3/4" x 13 3/8"
This is a wonderful painting of a red crown parakeet by New Zealand artist Randall Wood. Outer frame needs some cleaning up, but the image is amazing.
RED CROWNED PARAKEET
The red-crowned parakeet, also known as red-fronted parakeet and by its Maori name of kakariki, is a small parrot from New Zealand. It is characterised by its bright green plumage and the red pattern on its head.
What a beautiful & colorful parakeet painting, I was a parakeet owner and must say it's an excellent likeness
Thank you! I fell in love with it when I saw it for sale. I love the background too, very interesting. I thought the bird was a realistic resemblance, so thanks for verifying that..
Very pretty and well done. I always bugs me, though, when artists sign in such bright colors. I have not bought some paintings I really liked because the color of paint the artist signed in detracted from the focus of the painting. I don't understand why artists do this. This one is not too bad, though, but a more subdued color would have been better IMHO.
I thought the thumbnail was a real bird! That is great technique to get the feathers so realistic!
