I found this beautiful vanity in a consignment store and fell in love with it. The piece is put together by dovetail work that is clearly not spaced evenly and each dovetail groove is small. Growing up in a 200 year old house helped me to appreciate the value, craftsmanship and durability of everything vintage. I would love to be able to find other pieces to match this set but I have know idea what to look for. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Picture # 1 is too dark to tell much about style but the wood work is outstanding, I think you will need to look long and hard to find any matching pieces. I'm going to say it is American because the side of the drawer that I see appears to be Pine and if it were English it would be Oak. You may even need to see an antiques dealer to determmine what it is and see if they can find more.... Good luck... It is VERY pretty.
this is a walnut eastlake dresser very nice piece but noticed on the side of the mirrior one part is broke off. but still bring a good price
It does seem to be pine (very soft wood on the inside of the drawers. I uploaded better pictures including one that shows the almost-pinstripping. Does this help narrow anything down more? As I said, I'm not looking to sell it, I just want to get as much info as I can so that I can find similar pieces.
Good call on the style vanskysock24, and the term is not 'pinstripe' it is "inlay".. I think I would begin my search on-line with "Walnut Eastlake" and go from there......Lovely piece...
Thanks So Much! How do I describe the different colors and the leave/scroll detail painting? This is such an AWESOME site! I was afraid that I would never find this info! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
