I want to wish all of my glass loving friends a very happy holiday season! And just coincidentally, a new Loetz arrived from France this morning; it struck me as being perfect for the season, so I wanted to show it here. This is an example of Loetz's cut glass, with the iconic applied three ball feet that we see in quite a few examples of their work. It measures 7-7/8" (20cm) in diameter x 5" (12.7cm) tall and is a lovely fresh grass green that has a just hint of yellow. The exact cut pattern is not shown in Dr. Kai Hasselbach's article on 'A Study of Loetz Cut Glass Production' on Loetz.com, but an example of the shape is shown in image 44.08. The production date for this vase is in the range of 1914-1936. I hope you enjoy seeing it, and wish you all a safe and happy 2021!
It certainly is just right for the season and beautiful too, right down to the base!
Thank you Peggy! Yes, I love the base! Most I have seen have either a simple round cut or none at all; I really like the three piece design on this one.
Beautiful piece and beautifully displayed! Happy holidays to you and your family!!
Fabulous !!!
Thank you, jscotto - and to you and yours!
Thanks so much Kevin!
Michelle I am a Loetz igno so of course didn't know they did cut glass! Of course they did!! Beautifully of course and I would assume your gorgeous piece quite rare.
Happy Loetz collecting for 2021 and keep me happy by teaching me!!
Hi Karen, they did! But it wasn't well known that they did until quite recently. The article on Loetz.com is really informative if you want to take a look. I hope you have a very happy new year! :)
Very festive! Thanks for the holiday cheer!
