This teapot themed trivet is 5.5" in diameter and sits a bit over .25" high. It has a very small "MADE I N JAPAN" label but no maker's mark. I have seen this same style of teapot pictured on several Iwachu trivets and the quality of the workmanship on this trivet is comparable to Iwachu. I eventually found this trivet for sale on a Japanese web site. Possibly made for domestic use in Japan, but exported, too. A nice find for $4.
I did also find a nearly identical trivet on ebay Japan, with an Oitomi foundry mark, described as "[New] Nanbu Tekki bottle sill Daitokuji iron kettle type pot sill 45".
Thanks for loving my teapot shaped trivet elanski, Thomas, jscott0363, Jenni, Kevin, dav2no1, Watchsearcher, fortapache and PhilDMorris!
