D’Orlan Jewelry is always of exceptional quality. The Canadian company is known for manufacturing their own components, manufacturing pieces for Nina Ricci, and their use of high quality triple 22kt gold plated finish.
D’Orlan was founded in 1957 by Mr. Maurice J. Bradden, who became a protégé of Marcel Boucher in the mid 1950s.
The D’Orlan company was officially founded in 1957 when Mr. Bradden opened a jewelry factory in Toronto.
It was in this factory that D’Orlan manufactured all of their own components aside from Japanese pearls and Austrian crystals which they obtained from suppliers. The company became a manufacturer for Lancel and Nina Ricci and was distributed throughout 30 countries.

I knew I had seen this brooch before so checked my jewelry box. I’ve never known any details about mine but after seeing yours, I’m concluding mine may be “a relative” of your, made by same company, but with minor variations.
Mine is identical except the head has no rhinestones except for a beautiful green rhinestone eye.
It’s a bit heavy so I’ve never worn it.
I’ll try to make a few pictures today and post it for opinions and information to educate myself about it.
Eileen, you are so right about the sagging blouse fabric with the weight of some brooches....they would be better supported on a coat. I have one brooch that I attach to a wool scarf - that works well also.

In researching this I found out that yes indeed there are several different varieties by the same company if you noticed the eye in my little bird he does have a iris. some of them are just a rhinestone. I think I like the little pinpoint Iris myself thank you again everyone I'm glad you enjoyed it
