I thought this plate was an unusual colour & shape around the rim so for a couple of pounds I thought a bargain for a display plate !
It’s quite large at 14 inches , also with dragons motifs in yellow & blue I think a lovely looking plate ..
I don’t know much about the age but don’t think it’s old even though it has a 1900s mark on the base..
Any info greatfully received & thanks for looking ;-)
well lets start with the bottom , the mark is off centered, which actually is a sort of sin
what about the glazing of the mark, well that,s right but it is too right, the fluidum of the mark is almost completely congruent, no blackening or a sort of argentum glare
the actual mark meaning = da qing qian long nian zhi
right under is the zhi mark meaning made , and they put a good effort to fake it because it,s 5 pronge instaed of a 3 pronge
on top right right is the qing symbol, next to the trident with the open mouth square is 4 bars and in the middle a long bar ,wel thats common but not so likely in the 19 century, they use a crossing over part between the bars of the mark
what about the glazing, the glazing is shallow, there is no elevation among the glazing and the scene is not so refind if you look at the claws of the dragon its monocolored and rather angular and above the head of the dragon is probably an overenameling, maybe they used shablones i don,t know
is this a bad piece ,no people like dragons and yellow grounds with thorn rims, there is value left, you done well congrats
