Hi! Any Corning Ware Experts around? :-) I am intrigued why this Wildflower piece has the number 19 on the pattern. Does anyone know? I see other patterns like this one, but none with the number on them.
Thanks in advance!

Seems in last year these pieces have become quite popular.
dav2no1, It might be because people are cooking at home more because of the pandemic.
Hi, cipele. :-)
Where are you seeing this "19?" Is it printed on the body of the casserole dish, or are you seeing it in some pattern listing somewhere?
Hi, I added another picture. It looks like the number 19. There is no damage on the pattern.
Thanks for looking :-)
Ah! And it's not old greasy stuck on it either :-D
Oh my goodness, I see it now. How very interesting. I'm going to go hunting for that now.
FYI, in case you didn't already know Wildflowers is one of the rarer patterns.
So far, none.
I wonder whether it perhaps was something on a decal that didn't get snipped off before it was applied to the dish and fired.
Perhaps it's a bit like this Corningware Country Festival Friendship pattern (which I still love) in which you see a copyright mark and a year (scroll down):

I realize that doesn't explain why yours just has "19," (the Wildflower pattern was made 1977 - 1984) or why I haven't found another like it yet.
I'm just speculating...
Here's a Corningware Collectible site. The owner might have some insight:

You might also want to contact Corningware dot com about it:

They probably won't have an answer, but may be able to point you towards somebody who does.
Hi Keramikos!
Searching about the "19" this morning, I discovered this is one of the rare patterns. I thought the same as you at first, a defect on the decall. I will follow your advice. That "19" is very intriguing.
Thanks!
You know, I have a feeling that the only people who might know are ones who worked in the factory back in the day.
The Charleroi, PA factory is still around. Maybe there's some kind of association for employees/former employees.
After all, I'm old enough to have worked there when they were making that pattern, and I'm not dead yet. };-)

The number 19 appears on both sides of my dish. Didn't think of checking that...sorry. What eliminates defect on the decal. Someone just shared a picture, same pattern, and hers have the number "2" on the same spot as mine!!
The mystery deepens. Perhaps batch numbers?
That is to say, perhaps one item in each batch to be fired had a batch number on it? Total speculation here, BTW.
