Lovely grouping of Murano stylized ducks. I like Murano glass birds either in groups or by themself . . . and I like ducks in particular. I believe this group was made by Oball. There is no sticker but the design of the clear base is typical of their work. The eyes, edges of the wings and beaks are guilded. I also like the subtle pink tones - I think there is a word for how this colour is manipulated, but I've forgotten what that term is. Beaks, tail and wings are clear. Base is not ground flat but has a reticulated raised pattern - somewhat like a net and this feature might assist in confirming the item's identity. Made within the last 40 years? Just under 14 cms tall and 20 cms wide. Very heavy. The ducks rest on a low table where I sit to watch TV. They are a constant source of pleasure. Purchased on-line from England. Hope you like them as much as I do.
Lovely pink Murano birds, perhaps alabastro...it is so nice to see glass animals as part of your beautiful collection
I'm glad you like them as much as I do, Newfld. I like glass, old and modern which has pink / cranberry in it. I'll post some of my collection of latticino ducks soon. The Murano glass artisans are very skilful and I'm often looking for more examples of their work. This attractive group is very appealing to the eye!
These are adorable! And I love the color!
Thank you, shareurpassion, for your much appreciated comment on the pink ducks. The pink colourway is exceptionally done and make them very visually appealing. The Murano ducks and birds range from the simple to the extravagant, even the stands they sit upon are a work of art. I have a few smaller examples of these glass bird sculptures and I hope to post them soon. I just love to collect them!
