I found this on Ebay. It was being auctioned as a tourist piece rather than Pre-Colombian, but it is no doubt Pre-colombian. The magnesium spots and there's actually a shadow where they aren't present where it was lying on something on part of the back. It might represent a dwarf with a very big nose.
what category do we use for pre-colombian pieces?
The power to be moved mine to "Fine Art" so I assume that is the correct category.
chinesco
san sebastian
jalisco
colima
there are not more options
Thank you fhrfr2. apostata - once again, you amaze me! four words completely puzzled me for about 30 seconds, and then i spent the next 3 hours completely enraptured in the history of this piece! in college, i lived w/ a woman who had this knack for asking short questions which made you completely re-think the way even much older professors thought about the world. She even made Noam Chomsky laugh out loud - and according to those around him, this was a very rare event. apostata amazes me like she did.
the answer was a bit mean and corny , because actually i transfered the question
lets do it the culturally anthroposophical way, because magnesium is not the only deposit as an determant , there has to be other deposits, i cant discussie because my eyes are to bad
actually your point of view of this is of a person with achondroplasia
well there is known deformation, concerning bones , but they are almost always what the called cranial deformation, for cultural purposes
actually you almost never see diseases or deformaties in artifacts
genetically there should be a lot of subluxation of the hips in the pre columbian period , and we never see artifacts with a subluxation
so its not likely to be a dwarf
most artifacts are gods, warrior , priests , dignitaries to show social class ( maybe for meritocratic reasons) and the not social class commited pieces are mostly what they call the la alegría de vivir ( joy of life pices)
by the way i am a chomsky lover , he is a genius , i always hated Ludwig Wittgenstein lol
So this was made between 100 and 250 AD, making it almost 2000 years old. Ixtlán del Río area, Nayarit. And he is a she.

well Fernando Hernández is nearby asked him
i am out of here i had enough
Clars auction will probably inform you , bye
