      Hi, allannorthend. :-)

It is indeed fantastic workmanship. I can't begin to imagine the skill and patience it would take to make something like that.

A casual search (I was hoping to find the wood type) turned up some similar stands with varying numbers of legs. Some are described as African, but some as Pakistani (the latter is described as rosewood, and indeed, it seems plausible):

Do you think that a glass top would be added making a table? This is beautiful.

While likely not related/connected in any way whatsoever, the artistry evident in this piece isn't totally unique. There is a small museum in Dover, Ohio USA dedicated to preserving the work of one Ernest "Mooney" Warther who likewise created absolutely amazing examples of woodcarving, including many 'carved from one piece of wood' items. I don't think he did camel heads (but not impossible, I suppose) as he was more known for creating actual functional 'pliers', alone or in combination. His "plier tree" is on display there, consisting of 511 (!) interconnected pair, all carved from one block of wood.
