Military Carabiner Marked US Wyott 76
2" x 4"
This example is marked US on one side and Wyott 76 on the other.
I got this from a friend about 30 years ago. When I first saw it, it was dirty and you could not read the words. I knew right away that it was military by the heavy duty construction. I use it to hang my hot rod keys and other extra keys in the safe.
From what I have read, these were commonly used by the Specialized Forces during the Vietnam Era, such as Airborne Troops, Special Forces, LRRP and Recondo Units. My version is 76, but they had examples that were identical with earlier dates.
These snap links were commonly found in Airborne / Special Forces units and were used for rappelling from helicopters or getting across rivers.
