      Hi, cordelld1. :-)

Nice job on refinishing the cabinet.

Per the International Sewing Machine Collectors' Society (ISMACS) Singer serial number tables, serial number AJ242229 was one of a block of 25,000 consecutive serial numbers (229171 through 254170) that was allotted to the Elizabethport Singer factory November 29th, 1949, and all were destined to be stamped into the beds of model 66 machines:

      *snip*

      AJ- 229171 254170 66 25000 November 29 1949

      http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/singer_dating_by_serial_number.html

Per Sandman Collectibles Singer ID template, your machine is a model 66-16:

      https://www.sandman-collectibles.com/id-singer-machines.htm

      https://www.sandman-collectibles.com/id-singer-machines.htm#28

      About the model 66:

Here's a manual for a model 66-18 (the motor is a slightly different model from that on a model 66-16):

Your decal set is called Filigree:

The pattern on your face plate and rear access panel is called Striated:

      https://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/gallery_faceplates

Your cabinet is called No. 56:

With regard to the light bulb:

This outfit has a compatible replacement light fixture, but no bulbs:

      https://www.singeronline.com/lightfixture2.html

This outfit sells replacement bulbs, but I'd contact them first to be sure it's compatible:

As to value, valuation isn't done here at Collectors Weekly Show & Tell. You can get an appraisal by clicking the Appraisal link at the top of the page (but it isn't free).

Alternately, you can consider this free advice from an expert at ISMACS:
