    Ceramic Rat Figure - Templeton

    Approximately 6" x 2 1/2"

Ok..when I first picked it up, I thought it was an aardvark. But looking closer, it appears to have a collar? Looks similar to a rat ..tail is too long for a bear or lamb.

Says, "Templetony" or "Temple to NY" or "Templeton"? Had a big glob of glue or something on the bottom. I chipped it off so it will sit flat again. Says, "Ashley IIII" on the bottom.

**UPDATE** So with help from Watchsearcher, we now know that this is a rat, named Templeton...as in from Charlotte's Web.** SEE COMMENTS

With the long snout and collar I am tempted to say greyhound dog, but can certainly see the rat - nice animal figure!

      I don't know...my sister had a Whippet..don't think this looks like a Greyhound. Looks like a Polar bear with a long tail..lol

Templeton was the name of the rat in the book/movie ‘Charlotte’s Web’.
    5. dav2no1 dav2no1, 4 years ago
Awww that kinda makes sense. So maybe someone had a pet rat named after him? Not sure why he has a collar?
    6. Watchsearcher Watchsearcher, 4 years ago
Artistic license maybe, or, like you said, the maker may have had a pet rat (yikes!) named after the ‘famous’ one.
    7. Watchsearcher Watchsearcher, 4 years ago
Maybe the 4 lines after the maker’s name are cute little rat toenail scratches (like it’s own ‘signature’). They look spaced out like the lines on the figurine’s toes.

Good eye, I hadn't noticed that! And domesticated rats and mice make great pets. They all have their own little personalities..

I’ll just stick with good ol’ cats and dogs ....and just take your word for that!

WatchS - so I uploaded a new closeup photo. I think you are on to something. Now I see it looks like it says Templeton and has a rat figure at the end..

Oh, my goodness! That new picture confirms it’s the ‘movie star of the rat world’....now to find out why Ashley made it.

WS - Thanks for the help. I kept thinking that the name sounded familiar and it was bugging me..lol. updated the post.

I’m glad I was able to help. Now, a new quest to watch for other characters from that story....maybe the entire cast??
