Very cool. They would not give that away at an antique mall.

WOW, what a great response to my lucky CobraMatic find! Thanks much to Newfld, Brunswick, FadedHighways, Vynil33rpm, dav2no1, vetraio50, aura, jscott0363, fortapache, Shuzbut, officialfuel, raven3766, farmlady, truckn20, usedcarlady, sanhardin, EJW-54, Longings, rustyboltz, Beachbum58, Lady_Picker, & sugargirl for the <love it>s!!! I absolutely agree fort...I've seen much more 'basket cases' than this with surprisingly large price tags, even at Goodwill. BB2 -- I don't know, as I both haven't plugged it in (there's some crispy old wiring in there) and have it temporarily covered up until moving to proper storage to study it further and experiment...wish me luck! :-) :-) :-)

UPDATE for bb2 -- I did plug it in to see what'd happen. It didn't 'work' during the time I energized it but it did 'light up' -- considering the condition of the speaker wiring I'm not surprised that it didn't actually make any noise... :-)

I collected and bought and sold these years ago. Looks like you have a place in the back to connect an antenna. If that is correct any piece of copper wire will function as an antenna. Could be you are to far from a transmitter. If that doesn't fix it I would suspect the power tube. Be cautious if you find one and change it. I got knocked across the room changing one when my hand touched the metal framework.

fhrjr, it actually has a built-in antenna loop -- I think that's what the little yellow sticker (pictured in one of the other posts) is pointing out. The speaker wiring is really job#1 to fix, its rubber zip-cord type insulation is just *gone* in numerous places, it'd be a miracle if it wasn't showing the amp a direct short-circuit load, which is likely what was making one or two tubes light up a little bit *too much* for my taste when I tested it, not to mention the physical damage to the speaker itself. It IS a bit comforting, though, that it didn't go POOF when I was messing with it, there's hope... ;-) :-) :-)

...and for that matter, if it does end up needing a tube or two, I've probably already got them on hand... ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
