i found this cool box about a month ago and i've been slowly removing the shiney chipped varnish from it and polishing it w/ wax. i haven't done the inside yet.

This is a neat little box. Someone used their imagination here.

Putting the glasses on it made me think of Audrey II from "Little Shop of Horrors". Nice piece!

This looks so familiar to me. I think we may have one hidden in the house somewhere. See, my Dad (who is 93) used to love to sit by the fireplace which was our main source of heat when I was growing up. He would crack walnuts and throw the shells into the fire. We would give him walnut-themed things on occasion for birthdays or Christmas and I believe he used his box to store walnuts and the nut cracking tools. I'll have a look around and see if I can find it.

You polish it with what kind of wax?
Wax is better than old english furniture polish?

thanks everybody. i think that the inside did hold tools for cracking them at one time, but it's beens stripped. i use howard citrust shield was on most wooden things i have. i have never used old english, so i don't know.
