Pin spanner on one end the other is an open end. I don't know the maker.
Hi, thriftybuzzard. :-)
Interesting. I found a sibling:
(A few tidbits translated by Google translate.)
old flat key 2147 Varu Marke.
Brand: Renault

The seller seems to think the maker is actually Renault. I do think it's possible that "Varu Marke" might not be the brand name, but perhaps something akin to "Marca Registrada," because here is a maker's mark for a Swedish ax company that incorporates that "Varu Marke" phrase:
https://www.traditional-tools.com/urafors-yxabrik-history/
So perhaps an old wrench used on Renault vehicles?
FYI, you might want to correct the title of your post, because the number on the wrench is not 585, but rather 589.
Could be a grinder wrench

Here's Varu Marke with a slightly different spelling (an umlaut over the "a" in Marke which can also be rendered as an "ae" in German):
*snip*
REIMERSHOLMS Varu- märke
Varumärke tillhör The Absolut Company Aktiebolag
*snip*
https://www.allabolag.se/5560150178/varumarke/reimersholms-varu-marke/266840
Google Translate renders the (Swedish-detected):
"REIMERSHOLMS Varu- märke Varumärke tillhör The Absolut Company Aktiebolag"
In English as:
"REIMERSHOLMS Brand The trademark belongs to The Absolut Company Aktiebolag"
So varu marke/varumarke/varu-maerke means brand or trademark.
I can't make out what the little symbol in between VARU and MARK on your wrench/spanner is.
I have a light duty one just like this to change implements on my bench grinder. Makes the job much easier.
OK, we now have two opinions that this is a grinder tool, and a simple search using those terms supports that. :-)
It's still a mystery about the age, and the maker. It does seem like the maker is European.
keramikos you sound like a Trump supporter. Lets get it right, I said I have one like it that goes with my grinder. I did NOT say it is a grinder wrench. I simply gave feedback which is accurate and true.
fhrjr2,

OK, so you have one like it that goes with your grinder.
The wrench shown above is probably a crank wrench with a face pin spanner for the lower bracket. They are common for all types of equipment and different applications.
OK. It seems to be a fairly common tool for bicyclists. Here's a modern version:

100 % correct, bicycles, motorcycles, cars & trucks etc. I believe the first ones made were two piece and went to the Marke Woodchipper. Very first wood chipper ever made. My Craftsman woodchipper had one that was box end and face pin combined for removing the chipper blades and back plate/rotor.
