A pedestal fairy lamp has three parts. The pedestal, the candle cup which fits inside the pedestal and the shade which fits inside the cup. It's the shade that is missing. However I do have another Welz fairy lamp and I have used that to give an idea of how the complete lamp would have looked. The glass is comprised of green stripes on a fine base of amber glass and also has a satin finish.

You missed nothing scott. Collecting is unpredictable and just after buying this I came across something else in these stripes, All being well, no breakages. you'll get a group then,

      I knew it!

Cannot tell you enough, how much I enjoy your groupings.

      Take care,

Strange times indeed but this is a great post .... I am still looking for one of these. Three pieces and so easily split up.

Good luck with finding one of your own. As the interior of the candle cup has discoloration, presumably from use, heat damage (cracking) couldn't be ruled out as an explanation for the lack of the shade. I think these may originally have used tallow candles. Later candles burned a lot hotter.

Beautiful things and I find myself better informed now if I ever see one :) Is there any uranium content to the green glass?
    8. sklo42 sklo42, 4 years ago
BHIFOS, I don't have a UV torch as 'glow' doesn't interest me. However I think the base of the candle cup shows evidence enough, in image one.

This decor looks so good with a satin finish, very stylish.
As a fairy lamp tragic of long standing, it takes a good deal of perseverance to collect them. I have been most fortunate to be able to put together a few, including a three piece in Burmese. There are several more on the waiting list, for correct domes, cups, & bases. All I can say is that it gives a person another yet another compelling reason to keep searching anywhere with potential, online or elsewhere... :-)
PS: The original Clarke fairy lamp candles were made from paraffin wax, I believe, & burned slightly cooler than modern tealight candles.

you know Peggy here I had never so one of this lamps..... adore the colors, green and pink so springgy....... Also, I had posted the pontil of the basket

Ivonne, knowing the pink shade is not the right one just makes it unacceptable to me,

They may just never have been export to your continent. If you had no history of using such a lamp there would be no market for them.
