Came across this gem at auction. Got it for pocket change! unfortunately it has been poorly broken into and the locks on the outer doors disabled and the dial replaced . It’s a Diebold Safe and Lock Co. Double Door it’s 38”x29”x 54”tall and was a beast to load by myself, my best estimate is between 2000 and 2500 lbs. the inner door is a work of art. And is only around 11” by 9” inches and took every ounce of strength to lift onto the trailer. It will sit next to my Victor until my wife makes me find a smaller hobby. Thanks for letting me share.
Love these old safes with all the engravings..my Liberty safes are about 800 lbs, so half the weight. The place I bought them from, has a display of old safes like this..pretty cool to look at. They had a bank safe that's like a giant round ball, was supposed to make it hard to get leverage on.
Thanks dav2no1 I bought a 1000lb Victor safe that has local history to the town I was born in for a little over $100 last year and it was open but no combo. I opened the lock and in about 5 minutes had the combo figured out and have been into safes ever since. I can’t actually sit these two side by side because I don’t think the concrete in my garage will hold up to them. If I had the room I’d buy every one I came across, my wife would leave me but I’d have safes. I’m gonna try my hand at restoring and selling one and see if it becomes my new thing.
wow a safe inside of a safe ... you never can be to safe I guess,,,,lol I like smalls,,,,nice score, I 'm glad your going to restore it ..? great gun safe...
