These Welz life lights, in the well known 'shell shape', were bought with the previously posted Welz single stem vase. The bowl is one I've had a long time. All are the same décor. The life lights, being a very well known Welz shape tie the décor to Welz. And in turn the décor ties the stand fairy lamp to Welz, without a doubt.

    Here's your group, scott.

Fabulous to see them together. The finial on the box is my favourite thing. Tactile and functional. It almost forces you to be careful with it.

So pretty! I prefer the glossy glass to the matte. What is a life light?

vetraio, the twisted leaf finial is indeed pretty. As you know, pieces like these are probably 100 years old plus, so I never use the finial to lift the lid! The outer casing is UV reactive without need of a torch!

Celiene, a life light is a mini lamp which ran on oil and a floating wick. I've read that they were used as night lights. I've also read that they were a traditional gift given to a child at birth and subsequently lit once a year on the child's birthday.

      Ahhh this grouping!
Your collection must be one of the best curated I have seen Peggy.
I have learnt, and continue to do so, so much from your beautiful glass collection.

Hi, Karen, we don't see enough of you, or your glass, these days. Not only because of the support you always bring, but for your glass. Your glass was becoming ever more niche, ever more exotic, ever more amazing and now sadly missed.
